Overwhelm is a common challenge for most of us.
We have busy lives and when it becomes too much we are experience so many emotions at one time which leaves us feeling stuck and without a clue where to start.
Daily tasks are piling up at home and at work and we put things off but it drains our energy which leaves us feeling exhausted. Anxiety is high and so we struggle to sleep because our minds are racing and so when we do manage to nod off we then struggle to get up in the morning. The vicious cycle continues because then we end up spending the day rushing from one task to another and it can feel out of control.
To avoid the anxiety and overwhelm we find ourselves spending too much time on social media because we need the distraction. This coping strategy helps us for a while but makes the work pile up even more so in the long term it amplifies the situation. We also catch ourselves comparing other peoples lives who we think have got it together and we ask ourselves why we cant handle life the way then can.
I’m sure you can relate to this and we all experience that overwhelmed feeling from time to time. You wonder, how did I get here, and what can I do about it?
Follow my high performance tips below.
Write down the 3 most important projects for you right now whether it be in your professional or personal life.
Under each project write down 5 things you must do today.
Who are the people you must speak to today no matter what.
Take action. You will start get a sense of accomplishment as you work through your lists.
As you start your day. Take 5 minutes to plan what you need to get completed. Taking the time to plan will give you time back overall.
Priorities. What are the main things you must complete no matter what. List the priorities and the to-dos that must be accomplished today and DO these before you getting trapped in your inbox and other peoples agendas.
Start small. Break down your tasks into smaller, achievable actions. Bit by bit you will chip away at your work and you will be amazed and what you have achieved. There is no stopping you once you start.
These simple techniques will make a huge difference to your week. Its all about control and planning. I know you will start to see results immediately and you will gain a sense of accomplishment.
You will allow yourself to switch off after work because you know that you have worked on your priorities and your work is progressing.
Your energy will increase because you know that you have control at work and so you’ve moved away from the feeling of stress and overwhelm.
It’s comforting to have someone to discuss ideas, share options, and talk things through. Whether you’re striving to lead a team or seeking personal growth, we all need a trusted confidant who we can share our struggles and concerns with.
Together, we can navigate any doubts, concerns and insecurities you may have. But it is important to understand that during these moments of vulnerability that having a coach by your side becomes invaluable.
