The Power of Perspective

“How Changing Your View Can Change Your Life”

Life is a canvas, and our perspective paints the colors that shape our experiences. The lens through which we view the world can have a profound impact on our well-being, relationships, and overall success. Unfortunately, many people find themselves trapped in a cycle of negativity and pessimism, leading to a poor perspective that hampers personal growth and happiness.

Let’s look at real life scenarios and see if any of them resonate with you.

Energy – you’re mentally and physically exhausted and compare your life to someone else which results in you being too harsh on yourself. I’m sure we can relate to the fact that a negative mindset can lead to unhealthy coping mechanisms such as overeating, substance abuse, or lack of exercise, further deteriorating their physical health.

Career and success – negative mindset can severely impact our career and professional growth. Pessimism can lead to self-doubt, reluctance to take on new challenges, and a fear of failure. Our perspective may also affect workplace relationships, making collaboration and teamwork challenging.

Emotional well-being – having a poor perspective often leads to increased stress, anxiety, and depression. Constantly viewing situations in a negative light can create a sense of hopelessness and helplessness, making it difficult to cope with life’s challenges. Over time, this negative mindset can erode mental and emotional well-being, hindering the ability to find joy in daily activities and damaging self-esteem.

Practical Tips for you

My research has identified perspective can affect us in many ways therefore affecting our judgement. I’ve designed a new coaching strategy to support my clients when they are struggling with figuring something out and want a new perspective.

A simple strategy with 3 fundamental pillars of Control, Options and Balance. Follow the steps to gain greater insight for your personal development.

Control – Complete the following sentences… Do you have control over this situation? Can you control this situation? What’s out of your control?

Options – Complete the following sentences…Who do I know that is great in this area? What resources do I need to accomplish this goal? What do I need to learn or upskill in this area to move forward?

Balance – Complete the following sentences…What’s my mental and physical energy like on a scale of 1-10, How much focus am I giving this? What other factors/person are contributing to this situation?

New insight provides new perspective

By answering all of the questions above will provide new insight and therefore a new perspective and you now have a way forward.

Take Action – write down what actions you will start to take and ensure you make the steps realistic and not overwhelming. You will soon start to get a feeling of accomplishment which provides great confidence and progression.

Journal – I highly recommend capturing your progression. It’s a fundamental approach to gaining a new perspective in life. Writing down your achievements is a great way to focus on the positives of you work.

Highly recommend High Performance Journal by Brendon Burchard http://High Performance Journal B Burchard . It is great for capturing your successes and very easy to use.

A positive mindset encourages creative thinking and innovative problem-solving. When you believe in the possibility of finding solutions, you’re more likely to think outside the box and explore unconventional methods. This creativity can lead to groundbreaking ideas and unique approaches to challenges.

Embracing a positive perspective is a transformative choice that can elevate every aspect of your life. By cultivating optimism, you not only enhance your own well-being but also inspire and uplift those around you. Remember, life may not always be perfect, but with a positive perspective, you can find the silver lining in every cloud and create a life filled with joy, purpose, and fulfilment. Coaching has changed my life!

It’s comforting to have someone to discuss ideas, share options, and talk things through. Whether you’re striving to lead a team or seeking personal growth, we all need a trusted confidant who we can share our struggles and concerns with.

Together, we can navigate any doubts, concerns and insecurities you may have. But it is important to understand that during these moments of vulnerability that having a coach by your side becomes invaluable.
