Are you playing it safe?

Ive noticed an increasing trend over the last 18 months where so many people are afraid to take risks. Society has become obsessed with getting everything perfect however we all know there is no such thing as perfection. But even knowing this we still dont take action and take a risk.

I get it. It’s difficult and therefore it can feel scary and your mind creates many ‘what if’ scenarios. What if I cant do the role, what if I don’t earn enough money from my business, what if I do all this work and it doesn’t pay off? These are all common question we ask of ourselves but staying in your comfort zone is killing your dreams. You stop taking risks in all areas of your life and you become  stuck which results in procrastination and you end up doing nothing. In the process you start to lose your confidence. How many times do you hear yourself saying, ‘I’m fine, but deep down you know your not.

You notice colleagues getting promoted for positions you really wanted to apply for but talked yourself out of it and therefore you become frustrated at yourself because you see so many missed opportunities. We all think for a moment that it is easier to stay where we are but for the long term its not a great place to be.

My research has identified perspective can affect us in many ways therefore affecting our judgement. I’ve designed a new coaching strategy to support my clients when they are struggling with figuring something out and want a new perspective.

Be your most courageous self…

In High Performance coaching we look at pushing through your fear. You learn how to have faith in yourself to figure out any scenario you are faced with. Taking action is key to becoming a risk taker and moving closer to your goals.

Here are some benefits when you become your most courageous self.

Personal Growth: Stepping out of your comfort zone challenges you to grow and develop new skills. Facing challenges can build resilience and increase your confidence.

Learning Experience: Every risk, whether it leads to success or failure, provides valuable lessons. These experiences teach you what works and what doesn’t, helping you make better decisions in the future.

Innovation: Many breakthroughs happen because people are willing to take risks and try something new. Innovation often involves stepping into the unknown and exploring uncharted territories.

Increased Confidence: Successfully navigating risks can boost your self-esteem and belief in your abilities. It reinforces the idea that you can overcome challenges and handle uncertainty.

Achievement of Goals: Many significant achievements require taking calculated risks. Whether in business, career, or personal life, risks are often necessary to reach your goals and fulfill your ambitions.

3 High Performance strategies to help you overcome fear of taking risks.

Outside of fears for physical health in dangerous situations, what we most often fear are three things. First, we fear loss pain – that by changing or advancing in our lives we will lose something important to us. Second, we fear process pain – that the mere act or process of changing will be too hard for us. Third, we fear outcome pain – that all the effort we put into changing may not lead to a better outcome in our lives, that the “grass might not be greener.”

Further support

It’s comforting to have someone to discuss ideas, share options, and talk things through. Whether you’re striving to lead a team or seeking personal growth, we all need a trusted confidant who we can share our struggles and concerns with. Together, we can navigate any doubts, concerns and insecurities you may have. But it is important to understand that during these moments of vulnerability that having a coach by your side becomes invaluable.

Ive always been blessed with the knowledge that life is precious and I waste no time living my life with meaning, courage and being fearless. You deserve the same too.
